FAQs

Made in Canada
Our coats are entirely produced in Canada with high quality materials.

RWS certified responsible wool:
Given our commitment to sustainable and responsible fashion, our wool is RWS certified which stands for Responsible Wool Standard. This ensures the well-being of the sheep and the land on which they graze. Several points are raised by this certification, including the protection of animal welfare and the preservation of the health of the earth.
RWS certification requires the commitment of all stakeholders, from the farmer to the final supplier.
RWS CERTIFICATION
Our mission:
Desloups' mission is to manufacture very warm winter coats in 100% lined wool and parkas in Isosoft, entirely made in Canada. The idea came from the compromise we all have during winter: wearing a “chic and cold” wool coat or a “sporty and warm” padded coat. Desloups has created the perfect coat to be both chic and warm with a perfect fit.

The brand:
The origin of the word “Desloups” dates back to 2013 and it is by following our desire to find a word in French and a name that can represent Quebec, the cold and our territory that we settled on Des Loups , then we created a new term by grouping the two words, and that’s how “Desloups” was born!

The logo:
Originally, the name “Desloups” was accompanied by a logo of small snowshoes and it was in 2018 that we redid the brand image with the new wolf logo which is more in line with the name.

Our store:
In 2017, we opened our first boutique-workshop on St-Denis Street in Montreal near downtown. This is where the creation of models, the sales office, as well as a shop open to the public and a workshop are installed.

Our vision:
We work to create the best winter coats, locally, in a spirit of authenticity and quality in order to meet the needs of our customers. This is why we have chosen to produce 100% of our coats in Montreal in order to work in close collaboration with our suppliers and to promote the local workforce. The entire team behind us represents a chain of experts with whom we collaborate closely.

Behind Desloups:
Desloups is a Canadian winter coat brand created in 2013 by designer Isabelle Deslauriers. After training in fashion design in Quebec and around fifteen years working in the fashion industry in Montreal, it was in 2013 that she founded Desloups. Isabelle managed to combine two of her passions by creating Desloups: winter and sustainable fashion.
Our coats:
DESLOUPS coats are the WARMEST wool coats you will find on the market and are of original design, sought-after styles, very warm in virgin wool and lined with active thermolite, a high-end product that will ensure the durability of your coat. In addition, all our coats are made in Quebec, adapted to our winters.
Materials:
Properties of Wool: Wool has been used for its insulating properties for centuries, it is an excellent thermal insulator and therefore an ideal material for winter. It resists humidity and rain naturally (to a certain point). Wool remains the warm material par excellence and what matters beyond everything is the percentage of wool present in the composition of the coat. DESLOUPS offers 100% virgin wool coats to ensure comfort and warmth, even when temperatures drop drastically in the middle of winter.
Properties of the quilted lining: Our coats are lined with a piqué made of nylon on the surface and active thermolite underneath, which increases the level of comfort by storing air between the wool and the lining which forms an ideal thermal insulator to keep you warm.
Coat Properties:
DESLOUPS designs and manufactures all of its coats in Quebec, using a melton weave made of 100% virgin wool, lined with nylon pique and active thermolite which increases the level of comfort. Little touches like the addition of hand-warmer pockets, a fine wool lining in the cuffs, the inside of the back and in the pockets, make it a cocoon of warmth. In addition, the large collar large enough to slip in a scarf and often a detachable hood lined in fine wool are added to cover you and keep you warm, even in
midwinter.
What size to choose:
Your Desloups coat is adjustable!
No one is the same, Desloups thought of that!
You must first choose your coat by the width of the shoulders.

Women:
Coat shoulder width:
XS: 15.25" D: 16" M: 16.5" L: 17.25" XL: 18.25"
Men:
Coat shoulder width:
D: 19" M: 20" L: 20.75" XL: 21.75"
Then, here is the list of possible alterations with our coats in order to adapt them to your silhouette:
.Sleeve Length: Shorter or longer by adding an inner cuff.
.Waist and hips: Adjustment of the sides to redefine the waist or enlargement to give the necessary ease to the hips. It is also possible on all our coats to move the buttons + or - by approximately 1" in order to adjust the width of the coat.
.Shoulders and back: Enlargement of the back shoulder to give more ease to people with broader shoulders.

Adjustments and retouches:
DESLOUPS wool coats are high-end manufacturing coats, easily retouchable in order to have a perfect fit for several types of body types. Adjustments are offered at the time of purchase of the coat. Over the years, you can re-make an appointment with us for other touch-ups if necessary. In this case there will be a small fee for alterations.

Interview:
Coats in wool should be dry cleaned only. We recommend an eco-responsible cleaner.

Price policy:
Desloups wants to keep its prices as low as possible at all times and that is why we have very few sales. However, we understand that some customers appreciate getting a discount so they can shop ethically and locally while respecting their budget.
This is why we have established a pricing policy and offer
a pre-sale at the end of the season. Pre-sale allows us to adequately manage our inventory, to guarantee a minimum production and finally, to be able to offer work all year round to our suppliers. The end-of-season pre-sale takes place from mid-March to mid-April. Coats purchased in pre-sale benefit from the same guarantees and adjustments as coats at regular price. However, these are final sales and only a size exchange is possible.
Coats purchased in the vintage area, samples and small defects are sold without warranty or possibility of return or exchange.
Shipping Policy:
Delivery is free for all web orders and delivery time is 2 to 10 working days. Delivery is made by Canada Post. Returns and exchanges are free.
Return policy:
For online purchases on the web only*: If you are not completely satisfied, we will exchange or refund any unworn product with tags within 15 days from the date we receive your coat. You must first write to us for confirmation of the return: info@desloups.ca and we will help you with the return procedure by sending you a pre-paid postage label.
* Except coats purchased in pre-sale are final sales and only a size exchange is possible. Except the coats in the vintage section which are final sales.
